What is PTE Academic?
PTE Academic is a computer-based English test that assesses your academic-level speaking, writing, reading and listening skills.
You take the test in a small, friendly test center environment in just two hours.

Who can do PTE Course?
Choose PTE Academic if you plan to study at a university globally and need to prove your English level, or if you are applying for a work or migration visa for Australia or New Zealand. Take ‘UKVI’ route if you wish to work or study below degree level in the UK.
PTE Academic is also recognized by the U.S state Boards of Nursing for work visas.
Part 1. Speaking & Writing
This part of the test is 54–67 minutes long and it contains seven different question types. It is the longest section of the test. You will be tested on your speaking and writing skills, using English you might hear in an academic environment.
Part 2. Reading
This part of the test is 29–30 minutes long and contains five different question types. Because PTE Academic is an integrated skills test, one item type ("Reading and Writing: Fill in the blanks") also assesses writing skills.
Part 3. Listening
This part of the test is 30–43 minutes long and it contains eight different question types. The questions are based on audio or video clips, which begin to play automatically. You hear each audio or video clip once. You are allowed to take notes.

What is PTE Core?
PTE Core is a computer-based English test that assesses your general speaking, writing, reading and listening skills in a single test. You take the test in a small, friendly test center environment in just two hours.

Who is PTE Core for?
Choose PTE Core if you are applying for permanent residency in Canada. You can also choose PTE Core if you are applying for Canadian citizenship.

How do I register for the PTE Academic test?
You can register online through the official PTE website (www.pearsonpte.com). NIPSTec can guide you through the process.
Can I reschedule or cancel my PTE exam?
Yes. You can reschedule or cancel your test up to 14 days before the exam date. Charges may apply depending on how early you make the changes.
How is the PTE test scored?
PTE is scored using AI-based technology on a scale of 10–90. It gives scores for each skill (Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing) as well as an overall score.
What is a good score in PTE?
A score of 65+ is considered good for academic admissions, while 79+ is often required for immigration to countries like Australia.
How soon will I get my PTE results?
Most PTE Academic results are available within 24 to 48 hours after the test.
What is the difference between PTE Academic and PTE General?
PTE Academic is used for study and migration purposes. PTE General is used to measure general English language skills for work or personal growth.
Do all universities accept PTE Academic?
Most universities in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, and the USA accept PTE Academic.
